Aktion Fair Play - Demonstration Against Cruelty at Shelters

Dear Readers,

As spring has struck the country, all animal lovers decided to get involved with the so-called Aktion Fair Play movement. This whole movement has been organized against cruelty done on animals, and it was the turn of Budapest to raise their voices, and they did! I've attached the video below.

The two sibling organizations for rescuing pets, Bullyrescue Hungary (specialising in bull-type dogs), and the Pet Rescue League both turned up at the event, wearing their t-shirts bearing the logo of the League proudly.

These demonstrations were not meant to agitate anyone, I think this way of expressing anger and thoughts on disagreement in connection with the cruelty sometimes done at animal shelters is the best and most peaceful.

It has come to the League's knowledge that sometimes when an animal is sick at a local shelter paid for by the local government, the local gov. pays for them to be put into eternal sleep. If the animal is that sick or really old, suffering too much, I would even understand it. The big issue about this is the following:

Many shelters decide to take the money for the medicine that would put the dog to sleep, and choose to simply hit the animal with something heavy on the head, to kill it in a "cheaper" way. Also, there were instances when they let the animals bleed out - they were not killed but only lethally injured - on the premises.

Actions like these were the reason why the League decided to join the demonstration for a more fair, closely supervised keeping of animals at shelters.
